I Rene,

I develop everything on a host and then to a cross-platform compile for the beagleboard. With time I've got libraries that allow me to quasi transparently develop on either mac, pc or linux and then have it run on all the other platforms.

For audio, I recommend you take a look at <a href="http://www.music.mcgill.ca/~gary/rtaudio/" rel="nofollow">rtAudio</a> - basically a library that will hide all the nasty code from alsa and oss and provide you with a high level api

Good luck,
Marc

Hi Marc, all sounds pretty cool. I bought a BeagleBoard for a very similar reason, but have some issues getting things going. I.e. which development IDE do you use, do you develop on the target or a host, how to you access the audio devices, etc. I understand you are running the code on the standard Linux platform delivered with the board. I hardly have any Linux experience at all. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Glad you have this page going i think this. Oupd get big. I have hacked th kp1 and a minor hardware mod to the kp3 and recently have been thinking about hacking the firmware when i stumble across this.
Great that you have taken the initial steps to accessing and uploading the code using the editor.
My best hopes for a software kp3 mod would be to implement a sequencer using the 8 buttons on top for a basic 8 step sample trigger or using those toaccess the grid matrix xy pad for a 64 step trigger.
This concept could be used for sample triggering but also fx switching finger movementts and any cc etc over a 64 step range ie 8x8 led array.
The design of the kp3 is begging for this type of modd since all the hardware s i. Place its a mater of coding and slight modification of the architecture, it can also start off in a basic way as an open soure endeaver
Would love to hear back from you on this

You seem to have a great understanding of the update code. Do you know how to control the updates midi features? For example is there a way in this code to have the sample buttons A B C D be triggerd via CC# instead of Midi Note# in global? Also since the new update allows one to control sample volumes separately as well as with the slider is there a way to have said slider not affect over all sample volume...esentually make the slider do nothing on the KP3 yet still be usable to control an external device via midi.

Thanks!
