Tutorial times

by Marc Nostromo

Since the PSP port is now about to be complete, I thought it might attract a few people that do not come from the gameboy/LSDj background and that it was time to start something I’ve been putting off for too long, writing video tutorials. Although a great way to communicate, doing videos is always a bit of a hassle and I didn’t want to show my wobbely hands in front of a camera that I don’t have while mumbling supposedly valuable information with my thick french accent.  So I built a special version of the windows piggy that displays a GP2X (designed by UI) and gives feedback about what button is getting pressed. Combined with a good screencaster, the result is clear enough to be understandable once dumped on vimeo.

The last part, not having me talking, was done using the mac speech synthetiser (thanks jonbro for the help) which has fairely good result.

Once all of that planned, writing scripts and doing the videos became a breeze, so I’m all over it now. Here’s an example. I’ll had quite a few more in the coming days, so watch that vimeo account

PS: Yeah, I know, there’s a really ugly huge reverb :)

Dude, you did exactly was i looking for since i installed the PSP port of Piggy Tracker (it works like a charm on my PSP Phat 3.90 M33) :D I was waiting a lot for a PSP port and now i have it, so now i have to find docs and tutorials and start learning this awesome app (I have a lot of experience with trackers but Piggy still looks a bit exotic to me, i feel so n00b :D )!!

Nice… I was thinking of making a few tutorials myself actually! :)

hah, I couldn’t figure out how to do anything until I saw that the right trigger is used for page navigation. This program looks pretty awesome – I’ve used Buzz pretty heavily and the tracking portion looks pretty similar. Having a quick ‘help’ page in the app would be nice, just to say what the controls are.

Hey, at least I didn’t do it for nothing :)

You gotta get into the controls but once you know the moves, it’s really fast :)

Exactly what I was looking for. I had no idea on copy/paste/clone functionality until I saw this.

    Thanks!
